WHO WE ARE

Student Transition Services of Massachusetts - a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, providing support to unaccompanied college students in the Massachusetts Plymouth County area who are experiencing homelessness.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR SERVICES

To be eligible for services, student must be:

  • 18-24 years of age
  • accepted or enrolled in a public college or university
  • unaccompanied; not the physical custody of their parent or legal guardian and without a stable home

SERVICES

Services include, but not limited to:  

  • A caring and supportive adult
  • Assistance with basic human needs (food, clothing, housing, hygiene items)
  • School supplies
  • Connection to resources, services and other opportunities
  • Assistance navigating college campuses
  • Referral services


Meeting students at the following locations: (By Appointment Only) 

  • College and University Campuses 
  • Public Libraries
  • Community Centers
  • Other public locations within the Plymouth County area

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does unaccompanied student mean?

A student who is not in the physical custody or care of a parent or legal guardian. 


How do you define homeless?

Lacking a fixed,regular and adequate housing, including:

  • ”Doubled up” sharing the house of others due to the loss of housing, economic hardship or transitional shelter
  • Living in emergency or transitional shelter 
  • Living  in a motel due to lack of alternative accommodations
  • Living in cars, parks, abandoned buildings 

Who is considered at risk of being homeless?

When a student’s housing is terminated, being evicted and unable to find adequate housing.
